Vive la France?

While in France recently I met with a Toulouse therapist and his wife who are both TAT professionals.  In the course of our lunch together, they spoke of not wanting to raise their son, now 13 months old, in France because of the restrictive, rigid school system.

What do you think of this article from Psychology Today?

  1. Having experienced life in both places and watching ADHD kids everyday, I firmly believe that this behavioral problem has its roots in both nutrition and lifestyle. Kids tend to be over-stimulated today by watching too much fast-paced TV, playing video games, engaging in too many activities, and also processing the stress their parents are suffering from their busy lifestyle. When you add-on to this cocktail all the environmental toxins and the food additives kids are exposed to daily, no wonder why they cannot sit still nor focus. Kids do need boundaries to feel safe and secure, but they also need to play freely to let their energy flow and their imagination blossom. Over-stimulated, over-scheduled, junk food-ridden kids is the perfect recipe for ADHD behaviors. We need to slow them down, let them be kids while reminding them of the rules, feed them nutritious and balanced meals, and give them our full attention instead of plugging them in front of the TV or rewarding them with electronic devices.
